SETI RIVER THREE DAYS TRIP
Day 1:
We start driving early morning from Kathmandu at about 6 a.m. along the Highway till we separate the turn from Mugling town toward Pokhara and stop at Damauli town which is 160 km from Kathmandu. The put-in-point is slightly below the ridge where there is a confluence of two rivers namely the Mode Khola and Seti Khola. Both of these rivers erupt from the Annapurna Mountain Ranges and whilst onward our every moment and glances will be at its thickly forested gorges with broad leafed shrubs, ferns and creepers forming dappled canopies over the river. The luxuriant vegetation, we see is the remnant of the vast forest that once had covered the middle hill properly known as the Mahabharat Ranges of Nepal.
Travelling by raft is the perfect way to view the undisturbed wildlife and Observe the gradual changement of the topography as we float by and unlike trekking we leave no footprints. When we stop for lunch we will have time to explore, take photograph, bird watch, swim or just relax to suit each individuals and later in the afternoon we encounter a number of small rapids by technical ones near the village Sharang Ghat. This place is really beautiful and there is a vast spacious beach below the village where we will be camping for the night.
Day 2:
The dawn breaks with the ever fascinating birds call and wake up call, we prepare tea, coffee and leave them on the table offering for help yourself serving at about 8 a.m. after everything is packed, we resume the float again. After such a pleasant and quiet Seti Khola, gradually we enter the other main river Trishuli at the confluence but we won’t be leaving just as we came and to reflect back the events we will have lunch at the spot, enjoying the scenery and drift down river again till we stop for the day at a place called Gaighat for the night stop
Day 3:
As the Sun comes up the new day starts for us and its our last day of the trip. Nevertheless we have the usual movements but today there won’t be wake up call. And we have breakfast at about 8:30 a.m. and leave the camp site at about 10 a.m., at and unfurried frequency, then float all the way enjoying the view of the Terai flat landscape till we stop at Devi-Ghat. An important pilgrimage spot for the Hindus, during mid-January, at Magh-Sankranti and Shiva Ratri thousand of devotees pay their respects and take the holy bath at the very confluence where another river joins the Kali Gandaki River.
From hence onward the widened river will be called the Trisuli river and close by is the settlement namely the Gaighat where we put out raft at this point. Our transport will be waiting for us to drive back that will take 5 hrs to Kathmandu. But we stop on the way to stretch our legs and have cold-hot drinks to hold us till we arrive Kathmandu/ Chitwan.
