8 DAYS RIVER KARNALI ITINERARY
Day 1 :
KATHMANDU/SURKHET/SUWAT KHOLA
The tour involves a long drive of about 16 long hours to Surkhet, a well-known town within the area. and , still drive further to Bul Bule our relaxing (actual) stop, before we proceed to raft put-in-point. This will be our camp tonight. The next day we walk to Rani Ghat for about five hours however we will have lunch en-route nearby Suwat Khola a pleasant stream for quiet rest as well. And, after the short walk we proceed to the Ghat and change to rafting gears, inflate the raft and drift a little distance to a well selected beach to camp for the night.
Day 2 :
SUWAT KHOLA/SELECTED BEACH
After breakfast we continue rafting down the river encountering several big and small rapid. But at an intervals we do stop for lunch near river side and after we select to camp in sandy beach.
Day 3 :
SELECTED BEACH TO LOWER BEACH
The morning starts up with the wake-up call and bed tea at hand and after breakfast we resume floating for the day. But, today we will be going through more interesting rapids considered to be grade 4 and 5 all along till we pass the so-called Jungle Ghat (Named by the rafter). We will have lunch close by this bridge allowing ourselves to stretch our feet while the staffs prepare the food. There will be couple of grade 4 rapids to drag us along till we stop for the day at the lower beach to camp at night
Day 4 :
LOWER BEACH TO EXPANDED BEACH
The morning tempo remains the same but undoubtedly all of us will be slightly lazy enough to kee-up with the timetable nevertheless eventually we will get along. And after breakfast we proceed rafting down river again. The first half day would be thrilling white water for a good amount of time or so and gradually it simmers down to scenic calmer flat till we stop en-route to camp for the day on expanded beach for the night.
Day 5 :
Once again the nature call would be in the air by the ones of the peafowls and others, the breakfast will be served in no time and we resume rafting again. Unlike the day before, there is another wihite water stretch within the first half day but eventually it subsides to scenic float with the topographical changes and slows down for we will be mixing with the Seti Khola at the confluence. And half for the day a little further on the sandy beach to camp for the night.
Day 6 :
SANDY BANK TO SELECTED BEACH
After the usual morning workouts we continue floating by the frequency differs to previous days. We will be entering the main Karnali Rive system which has deepened and widened, slowing the frequencies to scenic float. And the landscape changes owing to being in the flatland to Tarai. We look for a selected beach to camp for the night somewhere along the river side.
Day 7 :
SELECTED BEACH TO VILLAGE REGION
The morning starts up with the early heat for we are already in Terai, the hottest region in comparison to the Mahabharat Region, Himalayan Region and Alpine Region. And after breakfast we continue rafting all day within the scenic stretch enjoying the ever changing landscape, the local inhabitants living along the river sides and the water birds like ducks, kingfishers, shanks, cormorants and others, so its to be an interesting float on this day. We will be camping somewhere but away from the village for a quite night.
DAY 8 :
VILLAGE OF TERAI REGION TOCHISAPANI
After breakfast we float with our keen eyes in order to sight the GHARIAL CROCODILES (considered to be about to extinct gradually) the rare specimen of crocodile found in this part other than Narayani river in south-east Nepal. There is a good number of birds live around as well as swarm of cormorants and ruddy sheldrakes to name a few and finally we will encroach the CHISAPANI settlement, out raft-put-out-point on this last day. After lunch we transfer in Karnali Wildlife Reserve.
Passangers not booked for Karnali Wildlife Reserve will have to come back to Kathmandu as usual i.e. catching of the night coach to Kathmandu.
