Royalty for Mount Everest:

Normal Route (South East Ridge):

1 Climber		US$ 25,000.00
2 Climber		US$ 40,000.00
3 Climber		US$ 48,000.00
4 Climber		US$ 56,000.00
5 Climber		US$ 60,000.00
6 Climber		US$ 66,000.00
7 Climber		US$ 70,000.00    

The team may include 5 more members provided, if it pays extra US$ 10,000 for each additional member.

Except South East Ridge: A royalty of US$ 50,000 has been fixed for Mt. Everest for a team consisting of 7 members. The team may include 5 more members provided if it pays extra US$ 10,000 for each additional member.

Royalty for other Peaks:

  • Climbers has to cross the age of 16 years.

  • 5% of the total permit fee for Mt. Everest and 10% of the total permit fee for other mountains should be paid in advance with the submission of application for the climbing permit. A 'preliminary climbing permit' may be issued if the submitted application is found in order. The time limit to pay the remaining amount to obtain the climbing permit is 1 year from the date 'Preliminary Climbing Permit' is obtained.

The Ministry of Tourism has fixed the price of the deposit for the management of garbage’s by each mountaineering team.

For other Mountains:

Peaks: above 8000m.

US$ 3,000 or equivalent in convertible foreign currencies.

2.

Peaks: below 8000m.

US$ 500 or equivalent in convertible foreign currencies.

The Garbages are Divided into three Categories.

1. Disposable materials

a.

Toilet paper

b.

Cardboard boxes and paper waste

c.

Bamboo baskets and mats

d.

Cotton and jute bags

e.

Spoiled food

f.

Dead bodies

2. Recycling materials

a.

Tins, bottles jars and plastic containers

b.

Plastic and foil bags and sheetings

c.

Reusable cooking gas cylinders

d.

Gas Canisters

3. Re-exportable goods

a.

Used oxygen bottles

b.

Used batteries

c.

Climbing equipment’s such as tents, personal gear etc.

Disposable goods should be brought down from the base camp and be disposed in the presence of Chairman or Ward Member of the concerned Village Development Committee. Similarly, recycling materials should be brought back to Kathmandu and handover to a prescribed agency for recycling. The re-exportable goods should be dispatched from Nepal to their respective countries and take back the deposited amount.

The liaison officer will be responsible to enforce the above mentioned procedures. Similarly the leader and the headman will be liable to perform the above mentioned, task in cooperation with the liaison officer

Liaison officers are now not required for peaks below 6500m.
